Tierras del Interior

Tierras del Interior is composed of ten municipalities that belong to the province of Valencia (Spain): Camporrobles, Caudete de las Fuentes, Chera, Fuenterrobles, Requena, Siete Aguas, Sinarcas, Utiel, Venta del Moro y Villargordo del Cabriel.

One of the peculiarities of this territory are the villages, which are constituted as a unique set of populations who belong to the municipal term of Requena, Utiel and Venta del Moro.

The people of the region Requena-Utiel together with Chera and Siete Aguas speak Spanish, and the territory is composed by municipalities clearly separated from the different ones that shape the Valencian Community, for being a high plateau prolongation of the Castilian plateau.

Historically, our region has been characterized for having depended on the Kingdom of Castile, nevertheless the proximity Valencia and the increasing economic activity with the coast led them to joining juridically the province of Valencia. In the 19th century our region suffered a great transformation thanks to the enormous development of the viticulture and the realization of to important traffic connections: the road (nowadays railcar) Madrid - Valencia and the railroad line..

We possess a historical, artistic, archaeological, paleontological and geological patrimony of the first magnitude (the neighbourhood of The Villa in Requena, declared in the joint historical artistic 1966; the Sanctuary of Remedy in declared Utiel historical Monument; The Molón in Camporrobles, important Iberian deposit ...). To that we can add a durable cultural offer of vital importance for our population.

The traditional gastronomy of our villages are alike enough, the plates are rich in proteins and calories, besides varied and tasty, whit an important role for the sausages and the excellent white, pink and stained(red) wines relying on The Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Requena-Utiel and the Regulatory Council of the Sausage Craftsman and of Requena's Quality.

Our landscape is characterized by extensive and magnificent pinegroves and as for the cultivated areas by the vineyards followed by fruit trees, cereals, olive groves, etc.


One of the economic principal activities of these municipalities is the agriculture, being the culture of the grapevine, the most widespread, which explains the relevancy of this zone in the wine-growing Valencian panorama.

The region placed between the road of Valencia and Madrid, is connected by the Railcar A-3, that join the communications and relations, for the National IIIrd, and the railway lines that join these two cities for Cuenca and that of Valencia - Madrid for Albacete. Other roads exist, as the N-330 of Alicante - France for Saragossa and the N-332 between Valencia - Cordova, also known as road of Albacete.
