Project description
Village of Europe
Campaign 1: Village of Europe
In each of the participating areas the support and promotion of farm and local products form an important part of the activities. Most of the areas already have countryside events in which farm and local products are being promoted. All these events have the common aim of bringing people into closer contact with an active and dynamic countryside that can provide so many experiences: recreational, culinary, educational, ... and as a consequence are excellent promotional channels for farm and local products.
One of the aims of this particular campaign is the initiation of networking between the organizers of the countryside events, aimed on the one hand at people living in the countryside, and on the other at those living in towns.
The bringing together of all the experiences acquired by each of the different organizers will have a significant learning effect. Lessons can be drawn from these exchanges that will lead to improvements in the quality of these events; these in turn can be upgraded in terms of sustainability.
In practice the following activities can be undertaken:
- The reciprocal presence of local products from each specific region at the various events. Collaboration will clearly be possible through this exchange and the participants at the various events will also literally be able to sample products from other European regions. In practice a ‘Village de l’Europe’ will be set up at a countryside event in each of the participating areas in which farm and local products from the other participating partner areas will be presented and where they may be sampled.
- The organization of a seminar on or around each of the events in each of the participating areas in which a specific theme can be explored that is of importance to producers of farm and local products throughout the whole of Europe. With an exchange of delegations at each of these seminars it will also be possible for knowledge to be exchanged. The exchange of ideas and experiences, coupled with the theoretical aspect, will generate a significant educational effect.
